- To Our Mission: We present bold, innovative theatre that acknowledges the realities of the world we live in, while pushing for the world we envision, where theatre isn’t defined by borders and invites everyone to see themselves onstage. We commit to this vision and invite you to join us in building a greater community around global theatre in NYC and across the globe.
- To Artists: PlayCo has collaborated with artists who have developed works through wars, regimes, apartheid and occupation, as well as those who've incisively illuminated the quirks and delights and mysteries of quotidian life. We need all of this and more on our stages to grasp the fullness of the human story, and we commit to provide access and resources to our growing network of local and global artists.
- To the Creative Process: We honor the messy, beautiful, unpredictable journey that is theatremaking, with space to experiment and evolve. But creative development is neither linear nor bound to arbitrary timelines. By freeing PlayCo from the seasonal calendar that theatres traditionally follow and adopting a new, project-based production model, we commit to meeting theatremakers wherever they may be along the creative journey, and giving each project we invest in the time it needs to bloom.
- To Community: We believe in global theatre, but, in order to actualize it, we need you, our audience and community members, to walk this path with us. We commit to building together with you–our neighbors, our city, and our global audience–to forge new pathways and adventure within our network of theatremakers and creators.
